The Battersea Shield was found in the area around Chelsea Bridge, London. Dated to 350 BC, it seems that an object this elaborate would belong to a member of the warrior elite or even a Celtic chief. The Battersea shield is from the La Tene era, which is characterized by the spirals, circles, interwoven knots and lattices that remain in modern Celtic art.
